Proper Care of Your Candle
Caring for your candle goes beyond just lighting and enjoying its soothing glow. Proper maintenance can extend its life, enhance its performance, and ensure safety. Here are some tips:
Trim the Wick
Always trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before lighting. This helps prevent smoke and soot, enhancing your candle's burn time and fragrance distribution. A long or crooked wick can cause uneven burning, dripping, or flaring.
Burn it Right
The first burn is critical. Let the candle burn long enough for the wax to melt all the way across the surface, usually 2-3 hours. This helps avoid tunneling, ensuring a clean, even burn throughout the life of the candle.
Keep it Clean
Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, and debris. This prevents possible flare-ups and allows for proper fragrance diffusion.
Safety First
Never leave a burning candle unattended and always keep it away from drafts, flammable materials, pets, and children. Always place your candle on a heat-resistant surface.
Know When to Say Goodbye
Once your candle gets down to 1/2 inch of wax, it's time to let it go. This prevents heat damage to the container or surface underneath.
Proper candle care not only enhances your candle experience but also maximizes your investment, and most importantly, ensures your safety.
